I just got a new Ford F-150 supercrew truck that has a 5.5′ bed. I’ve seen some tonneaus on some trucks as I drive around, but I’m not sure the brand or what is popular or good? I live in Utah where it snows a lot in winter and is very sunny in the summer. Any pointers or advice would help… thanks in advance.

  1. Well it depends on what type you want. I would say if you want a soft tonneau cover I would go with either Extang or Truxedo. Both brands have several different lines and lots of selection!

If your looking for a hard tonneau cover there is many options. If you want convience, go with Pace Edwards. They have nice roll up ones and even an electric one(But pricey). Then there is Undercover which is a “plastic” type that weighs only 50lbs but is paintable and very durable! Then there is fiberglass most peope use ARE brand but if you want the best look for the brand Gaylord!

  2. It really depends on what you are using your truck bed for. I use my truck’s bed all the time for large objects, so I bought a soft cover for it. If you want security and don’t have to remove it very often, a hard tonneau cover would be ideal. I think on my next truck I am going to get one of those folding hard top covers. You can lock them like a regular hard top, but they are easy to remove like a soft top. As far as brand names go, all the major name brands are pretty good.

  3. I highly recommend either of the 2 hard covers shown on page 6 of the Ford Accessories catalog.

The first one can be painted to match your truck & the second one is a very durable black composite material.
Adding accessories through the Ford dealer will give you a better warranty that if you do-it-yourself
