The motor is a 4.0 liter and that is what was in the explorer. Will all parts interchange or do you have to do some piecing.

I have been having problems with my 4×4 on my 1998 Ford Ranger. It seems sometimes it will work and other times it will not. When it is not working both the 4×4 high and low lights on the dash flash on and off about 8 times and continue to do so about every 10 minutes while driving. This has happened before then just started working fine for quite some time and has recently gone bad again. Any ideas as to what the problem is?? Thanks in advance.

It seems that my 2004 Ford F150 4X4 only works on LOW but not on HIGH.
Whenever I turn the 4X4 on LOW I hear a clicking noise engaging and it works fine.
This problem only started this winter, as last winter I was able to get both LOW and HIGH gear to work properly.
But when I try to do this on HIGH I hear nothing and it appears to not be working at all.
