I’m a very amateur mechanic. I replace things like spark plugs, alternators, starters, maybe a water pump when it breaks. I think I need new tie rods on my 95 Ford Ranger, but I’m not sure I’m up to the job. How hard is it?

I have a 1993 ford ranger 4×4 3.0L V6
It needs a power steering pump, a steering gear box, and a serpentine belt… how much do you think is a reasonable amount to pay a mechanic for repairs including labor?

I had the passinger side replaced first then the drivers side went so i replaced that and now the passinger side broke again. it cost about $300 to fix. if i don’t get it fixed will it do any damage to anything. I do notice the gas millage goes up.
I talked to a mechanic and he said that fords trucks around yr. 2000 had that problem. but that didn’t answer the question. why.

Atlas shrugged asked: I want to know about changing just front pads and rotors on this truck. I’ve only worked on older cars (1979 and earlier), and I’ve never done a brake job on anything that had ABS or that was 4 wheel drive. Are there any special tools or procedures I need to be aware of?
I’m trying to help someone out and save them some money by doing the work myself instead of sending them to a mechanic. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks.

Just bought a used Ford F250 Supercab XLT Longbed and the back running brake lights and the cab brake lights stay on. I’ve done everything I can think of. I’m now going to take the fuse out and take it to a mechanic.
